The aquatic park opened its doors in 1964 an has never looked
back. It is located on the shores of Mission Bay on 189 acres.
Park admission is reasonable with tickets ranging in price
of free for the tots (2 and under), $49 for children ages up
to 9 and $59 for 10 and up. These prices may rise and you should
check actual ticket prices before planning your trip to San Diego.
There are several attractions and rides at the park. Come early
and stay late with so much to see and do. Remember, all of
the dolphin and whale shows are action packed with spins and
jumps making for a wet attraction. If you and your guests want
to get splashe, be sure to occupy the first nine rows.
Be sure to see all of the exhibits like the Shark Encounter
and get an up close and personal look at white tip sand and
bonnethead sharks. Also take a stroll to see some amazing penguins
at the Penguin Encounter. Watch over 300 penguins waddle about
in a really cold 25 degrees.
The main attraction here is Shamu, Get an up close look at
the Killer whale as he glides through his 6 million gallon
pool. Other adventures include Rocky Point Preserve, Wild Arctic,
Manatee Rescue, Forbidden Reef, California Tide Pool and so
much more.
There are several rides for the thrill seekers in your party,
Start with Journey To Atlantis, a peaceful (just kidding) water
ride that will take your breath away. Or, take a cruise on
the Shipwreck Rapids as you and your party spin and splash
your way down the water rapids. There are several other rides
to keep you entertained the entire day.
For even closer encounters, why not experience the Trainer
for A Day program, Wild Arctic interaction, Dolphin Encounter
or take a behind the scenes tour of the park.
Enjoy a frosty Budweiser or dine at one of several eateries
that dot the park.
